Bitcoin remains under pressure near $77,400, with the market struggling to stage a meaningful recovery following the latest sell-off. Bitcoin is heading toward a weak October, down roughly 7% month-to-date, while implied volatility remains elevated after DVOL jumped from the high-30s into the low-40s during the sell-off, suggesting traders are continuing to price larger near-term swings.
On-chain data also shows stress among recent holders, with Bitcoin’s short-term-holder cost basis around $75,800, leaving a relatively thin profit cushion.
Technically, the $75,000–$76,000 region remains critical support and closely aligns with the short-term-holder cost basis. Reclaiming $79,000–$80,000 would be the first indication of improving momentum. Ethereum, meanwhile, is attempting to stabilize around $2,240 after testing the $2,170–$2,210 support zone, with $2,270–$2,310 now the key resistance area for a more meaningful recovery.
